Services and pricing
Whether you need one thing fixed or a whole new web presence, there's an option that fits. Prices are starting points. After we talk, you'll get a fixed quote in writing, and that's the price you pay.
Quick Help
One-off help with the online jobs that keep getting pushed down the list. No new website required. One-hour minimum.
For example
- Get your farm on Google Maps with a Google Business Profile, or fix the one you have
- Set up or tidy a Facebook or Instagram page
- Fix or update a WordPress, Wix, or Squarespace site
- Set up a domain name and an email address like you@yourfarm.com
- An hour of advice on what you need online, and what you can skip
Good for: Farms that don't need a new website, just someone to sort out one thing.
Farm Website
A clear, fast site that tells people who you are, what you grow, and how to find you. As simple as one page, or a few.
What's included
- A single page, or Home, About, and Contact pages with pickup or visiting info
- Two rounds of changes before launch
- Easy for you to update yourself, or send me changes instead
- Works well on phones, where most of your customers will see it
- Contact form that sends to your inbox
- Domain and hosting set up in your name
- Google Business Profile set up or cleaned up, so you show up on Maps
Good for: Farms that sell at markets, a farm stand, or by word of mouth and need a real home online.
Farm Store
A website and online store built on the setup I use at South Hill Farm. Customers reserve online and pay at pickup, or by card if you want.
How a Farm Store worksWhat's included
- Everything in Farm Website, with your own name, photos, colors, and products
- A simple editor where you change text, photos, products, prices, and stock yourself
- A cart and checkout built for pickup orders
- Pay at pickup by cash, Venmo, Zelle, or whatever you take, with no card fees
- Optional card payments through Stripe, which you can switch on or off at any time
- Order emails for you and your customer, with an order number that's easy to read over the phone
- Orders in your editor with one-click buttons: Paid & Picked Up, Mark fulfilled, Cancel & Restock
- Stock that counts down with each order and shows Sold out at zero
- Two rounds of changes before launch
Good for: Farms selling eggs, meat, produce, flowers, or value-added goods that want fewer orders by text and Facebook message.
Custom Build
A web presence designed around how your farm actually works, from the ground up.
For example
- Your own design and branding, not a template
- CSA sign-ups, shares, and weekly pickup lists
- Wholesale ordering and invoicing for restaurants and grocers
- Booking for farm tours, events, classes, or u-pick days
- Multiple pickup locations, like your farm stand and Saturday market
- Connecting the tools you already use, like Square, your newsletter, or your bookkeeping
Good for: Farms that have outgrown the basics, or have something specific in mind.
Care Plan
Ongoing help for any site, including one I didn't build. For when you'd rather not have to think about it.
What's included
- Security and software updates so the site keeps running
- Fixes if something breaks
- Up to an hour of changes a month that you'd rather send me than make yourself
- Help by email, text, or phone
Good for: Busy seasons, which is all of them.
What you'll pay others
These go straight to the provider, billed to you. I'll set them up and explain each one, with no markup.
| Hosting | About $20 a month for a Farm Store, often less for a simple site |
|---|---|
| Domain name | About $10–20 a year |
| Site editor and order emails | Free at small-farm scale |
| Card payments (Stripe), only if you turn them on | About 2.9% + 30¢ per card payment |
Also available
Priced as part of your quote.
- Moving an existing site off Wix, Squarespace, or similar
- Shipping and subscriptions for Farm Store (needs card payments)
Questions farmers ask
Do I need a whole new website?
Not at all. Plenty of farms just need a Google Maps listing that's right, a Facebook page that's set up properly, or a few fixes to the site they already have. That's what Quick Help is for.
Is every site a copy of South Hill Farm?
No. Farm Store starts from the setup I built for my own farm, because it works and keeps costs down, and it's made with your name, photos, colors, and products. If you need something simpler, or something different, I'll build that instead.
Do I need to know anything technical?
No. Whatever I build, I'll set it up so you can make everyday changes yourself, walk you through it, and leave you written notes. Or skip all that and send me changes on a Care Plan.
Do I have to take card payments?
No. On a Farm Store, customers reserve online and pay you at pickup however you like, with no card fees. You can switch on card payments through Stripe whenever you want, which you'll need for shipping or subscriptions.
Who owns the website?
You do. The domain, hosting, and every other account are set up in your name, and I'm added as a helper. If we ever stop working together, everything stays with you.
How long does it take?
Quick Help jobs are usually done within a week. Most Farm Websites take about two weeks once I have your photos and info, and stores usually take three to four. Custom builds depend on the project. You'll get a date in the quote.
How do I pay?
Payment is due half up front and half at launch. Quick Help is billed when the job's done. Invoices can be paid by card (3% surcharge) or cash, ACH, or check with no surcharge. Care Plans are billed monthly, and you can cancel any time. If a lump sum is hard, ask about splitting the second half over a few months.
What if I want changes?
Your quote spells out exactly what's included, with two rounds of changes before launch. Send each round as one list and I'll work through all of it. Anything I got wrong, I fix at no charge, always. New ideas beyond the quote are welcome too: I'll tell you what they'd cost before doing them. After launch, you can change text, photos, and products yourself, or send changes on a Care Plan.
I already have a website. Can you fix it instead?
Often, yes, whether it's on WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, or something else. Send me the link and tell me what isn't working. Sometimes a few changes are all you need, and I'll tell you if that's the case.
I'm not in the Willamette Valley. Can we still work together?
Yes. Farm visits are a nice extra, not a requirement. We can do everything by phone, video, and email.
I don't have good photos.
Phone photos are usually fine. If you're in the Willamette Valley, we can discuss a farm visit where I can help.
Tell me about your farm
It's free to ask, and there's no pressure. I usually reply within a day.
